Leonardo DiCaprio dona cinco millones de dólares para salvar al Amazonas

CDMX.- La fundación Earth Alliance, creada por el actor estadunidense Leonardo Dicarpio y los filántropos Laurene Powell Jobs y Brian Seth, anunció el lanzamiento del Amazon Forest Fund.

I worked with a troop of them in eastern Brazil back in 2017. It was tough hot and at times hopeless work. Some of them were Guajajara tribesmen who had dedicated their lives to protecting what was left of their ancestral forests – most had already been logged and burned. Some of them had been murdered for trying. It was brutal and tragic and we should all bow down to them for what they do – for so little money that they have to roll cigarettes with writing paper.

El ganador del Oscar informó que el dinero estará destinado a las comunidades indígenas y otros locales que trabajan en la protección de la biodiversidad y sostenibilidad de la vida en el Amazonas contra el fuego que está devastando la región.

El actor, a través de sus redes sociales, ha lanzado una campaña para restaurar y proteger al “pulmón del mundo”.

“El 100 por ciento de tu donación estará destinado a las personas que están trabajando sobre el terreno para proteger el Amazonas”, expresó DiCaprio.
